Abortion: Without Natural Affection
No better description of society today can be found than the reference in II Timothy 3:1-5. This description
is not some abstract of an unknown people in an unknown time. I believe it accurately and prophetically describes the time
in which we live today. Who can argue with such words and phrases describing men as "lovers of their own selves, covetous,
boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers,
false accusers" and this is only a partial list. Every one of these "qualities" can be found daily from a compilation
of newspapers.
One phrase that stands out as especially true and descriptive is "without natural affection". The word natural
is derived from the word nature which has to do with "the inherent or essential qualities of anything", to give
a dictionary definition. To have affection for someone means to cherish that person. The phrase is also found in Romans 1
with reference to homosexuals who are without natural affection for the opposite sex. Having natural affection is the norm,
as in a man having natural affection for a woman, a woman having natural affection for a man, and a parent having a natural
affection for his or her children. In other words, it's just the natural thing or that which is expected.
Though the Bible never mentions the word abortion, it does speak of murder and shedding of innocent blood.
The phrase "without natural affection" in I Timothy 3:3 can also describe the feeling of a mother toward a child she
wants aborted. In the animal kingdom, most mothers have an intense desire to protect their young, to the point of the
mother putting her own life on the line. With animals, this is called instinct. The mother doesn't think about it or have
to be taught to protect her young. She just does it, therefore, it is natural.
All human mothers have a God-given desire to protect their young, whether inside or outside the womb. To dislike,
even hate a child to the point of murdering the child, is to be without natural affection. But God places a natural affection
within the heart of every parent. The same can be said of any father who might abuse or kill his children. He is without natural
affection. Simply put, it is natural to love their children, and unnatural to hate them. The result of any mother who rejects
or denies this God-given natural affection is guilt and frustration, which explains why so many mothers who have had their
children killed, eventually need some kind of emotional or psychological counseling. They also need forgiveness from God for
committing the sin of murder.
As we continue to "celebrate" killing the innocent and helpless, God have mercy on America and raise
the consciousness level of this current generation concerning the horrible holocaust that has been taking place in the name
of "choice". Joseph Harris www.miniedition.net

Abortion: The Ultimate Child Abuse
A "mother" in California decided to take a trip to the East coast to visit a man she met
on the internet. She left her children, ages 7 and 4, alone for over two weeks. She instructed them to eat TV dinners and
other frozen food. When the children were discovered, they were hungry, slightly bruised, and filthy.
It is hard to believe the woman was not in her right mind since she had the wherewithal to plan and take a
trip across the country. Some have said the woman has become an unfit mother, when the truth is, she was already unfit, or
she would not have abandoned her children. One can only hope justice will be meted properly and some judge or jury will have
enough common sense to throw the book at her. Selfishness, plain and simple, is the reason this woman committed such a horrible
crime.
Outrage is expected from both liberals and conservatives on this issue, but let's look at the ultimate child
abuse. As horrible as neglect and desertion may be, murder of the helpless and innocent through abortion is worse. These abandoned
children suffered, but at least they are still alive and hopefully, can be taken by someone who will really love them. No
such chance for the murdered unborn innocents.
Once again, selfishness is the main motivation for abortion. Under the guise of "concern" for the unborn,
the mother may use excuses such as, "Inability to support a child" or "I can't give it the quality time needed" or any number
of other inexcusable excuses. The paramount excuse of selfishness is the one disguised in the cloak of the so-called freedom
of a woman's "right" to do with her body as she chooses. But a living, breathing human baby is not a part of the mothers body.
It is distinct from the moment of conception. The mother's body gives life, support and nourishment to the separate, distinct
baby inside. If the embryo(another word for a DEVELOPING, MATURING baby) were only a blob, or mass of protein, then
it could possibly be considered a part of her body, but common sense says otherwise. The dictionary definition of embryo is
"The first rudiments of an animal(or human) in the womb or of a plant in the seed; the first state(underlining mine)
of anything." Webster's Expanded Dictionary, 1992.
Being a parent means more than just bringing life into the world. It means giving up time, sleep, money, a
career, etc., just to mention a few basics. And parents only bring life into this world. They do not give it.
God is the giver of life, not the father or mother. God uses the father and mother to begin a new life in the womb. In a sense,
every new life is an extension of God, for all life comes from God. Try as he may, through cloning or the test tube, man will
never create life. If life is an extension of God, who made man in His image, then every murder is an attack on the creator
of life. The state may sanction, even fund murder, but God will hold murderers accountable. Pro-choice,(which is really pro-death
as opposed to pro-life) is nothing more than allowing people the choice to legally kill. Murder is murder, regardless of the
reason.
Children are a blessing from God. Thank God for the little blessings He has given and treat them with love,
respect and a reverent awe, for they all are little images of God, testifying to the greatness of the Creator, reminding us
that only God can give life. Joseph Harris www.miniedition.net
